VOLUNTEERS NEEDED NOWThe Washington County Public Affairs Forum is entirely run by volunteers. We need your help. Examples of volunteer opportunities include:
Volunteer roles last one year, August through July of the following year. Here are some volunteer positions we need help with: 1) Meeting Hosts and Membership Promotion. Five to six people are needed who would be willing to act as hosts to members and guests as they come to regular meetings. Volunteers would also help promote membership of new members and help recognize the achievements of its members. The assignment would extend from the first meeting in August and end on the last meeting in June of the next year. Volunteers would take turns each month in acting as meeting hosts. 2) Sponsor Promotion & Fund Raising. Five to six people are need who would be willing to contact and talk with potential sponsors. Volunteers would also help promote sponsorships by writing thank you letters to as well as writing additional letters to prospective sponsors. The Forum has held one fund-raiser each year (Beaverton Farmer’s Market) and has had at least three sponsors. Such activities have kept the budget in the black at a time when membership dues were not able to pay for all Forum costs. Our ability to find and sign up Sponsors will help our community understand how much their support is needed. 3) Assistant Forum Calendar Publisher. The Forum has a new Calendar Publisher this year. However, like everyone she will be gone now and then. An individual with some computer skills and an available computer with a reasonably current version of MS Word and an interest in learning some new skills is needed to help the Publisher. 4) Forum Photographer's. One or more individuals who have a digital camera are needed to take photos for the web site, newsletter and/or calendar. The pictures would be used periodically throughout the year. 5) Program Committee Members. One or two individuals are needed who like to do research, collect information from members about potential speakers, and serve on the Program Committee. They would help make the meetings exciting and meaningful. They would also be responsible for collecting Program planning forms from members and would work with the existing Program Committee. If you would like to volunteer contact the forum president at president@washingtoncountyforum.org. |
