Topic 2: Prostrate Cancer, A Dangerous Threat to Men.
Speaker: Dr Mitchell H. Sokoloff, M.D., F.A.C.S. - O.H.S.U. Director of Surgical Oncology Robotics
Mitchell Sokoloff, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Urology, is Chief of the Section of Urological Oncology and Director of the OHSU Robotic Surgery Program. He is internationally recognized as an expert in the treatment of prostate, kidney, and testis cancer.
He has been instrumental in developing innovative potency-preserving (nerve-sparing) and robotic operations for men with prostate cancer and in expanding the role of laparoscopy in the management of kidney and testis cancer.
He focuses on the surgical management of patients with urologic cancers and how this can be enhanced by exploiting the utilization of minimally invasive, robotic and laparoscopic technologies and by adding innovative systemic therapies to target high-risk, locally advanced, and metastatic tumors.
